Threa-Elddim is the fantasy kingdom to end all fantasy kingdoms
Welcome to the Threa-Elddim, the most quintessential fantasy kingdom ever made. I think I captured lightning in a bottle here and can't wait to run a campaign in it. Here's the quick blurb:
Threa-Elddim was a strong and imposing kingdom during the Realm of Man; and before that, home to great elven and dwarven kingdoms in the preceeding age.
Although nominally still a Dominion of Law, much of this once proud kingdom was laid to ruin during the Drune Wars that spelled the end of the Realm of Man, from which it has never really recovered.
The wild duchies of Rodaire and Noinavohr make up its northern frontier, whilst the plains March of Nahor and the southern royal duchy of Rodnog, are chiefly concerned with the threat of the Chaos-sworn duke of Rodrom to the west, who has gathered a host of orcs, hobgoblins and other evil creatures to his side.
A bit more to unpack the kingdom:
The wild duchy of Noinavohr is plagued by a dragon that has laid waste to much of the region, including the ancient dwarven kingdom of Robere that used to lie here. It is also home to the elven enclave (like all the elf and dwarf enclaves, survivor states of grand kingdoms from a former age) simply called "the sylvan realm", nestled in the largest woodland in the kingdom, the Krim Woods. Also nestled in those deep woods is the dread fortress of Lod Rudlug, home to a foul necromancer lord that imperils what little civilization is left in Noinavohr. No duke proper has laid claim to Noinavohr since the dragon landed. The mayor of Thoragse claims the title for himself, but even if he were not a vain and petty thing, none but himself would recognise the claim either, since he barely controls the town he governs, let alone the lands beyond.
Across the Fog Crags that separate the two northern wild duchies, is Rodaire, the dukeless duchy and a true frontier virtually empty of civilisation. A small halfling enclave just east of Eerb, the only town of note still standing, forms the end of a very sparse trade route. A couple of elven enclaves also exist here, but they do not interact with the rest of the kingdom.
South of Noinavohr is the March of Nahor, home to semi-independent tribe of horsepeople. It is termed a march because in ancient times before Noinavohr and Rodaire were folded into the kingdom, Nahor was the borderland between these realms. The old king of Threa-Elddim forged an alliance with the horsemen of the march, that would eventually lead to all these lands being ruled under one king. The only thing of note in the march is the tower of Dragnesi, home to the greatest wizard of Law in the realm, Namuras, although evil rumours whisper that he has been seduced by Chaos of late.
Further south are the royal lands of Rodnog. Here civilization and Law still stands proudly, as the king dreams of the day when he may one day reclaim and re-civilize the borderlands to the north. He has different concerns at present however, for the duke of Rodrom to the west has sworn himself to Chaos and a host of evil is said to be gathering in those forsaken lands.
Oh, and here is a quick map I made of it:
